What you'll be doing
- Establishing and managing project controls frameworks for major infrastructure projects, covering cost, risk, schedule, document, and change control.
- Leading integrated project planning with planners, estimators, and project managers to set robust baselines and ensure consistency.
- Monitoring and reporting on project performance, cost, schedule, earned value, and risk, providing critical insights to senior leadership.
- Managing the change control process, ensuring all impacts are understood, documented, and agreed before implementation.
- Coordinating governance inputs for board reviews, audits, and reports, ensuring accuracy and readiness.
- Overseeing forecasting in partnership with Supply Chain, Commercial, and Finance teams for precise financial projections and resource allocation.
- Driving risk and opportunity management, ensuring risk registers are actively managed and used to inform decisions.
- Championing best practice across the Net Zero programme, promoting standards, tools, and templates to enhance delivery.
About you

Key requirements & experience
Essential:
- Proven leadership in project controls for major infrastructure projects, ideally in energy, utilities, or regulated industries.
- Deep expertise in planning and scheduling tools (e.g. P6, PRISM), estimating, cost control, forecasting, EVM, change and risk management, and document control.
- Strong understanding of commercial contracts (especially NEC) and the integration of project controls.
- Excellent data and analytical skills, able to spot trends, explain variances, and guide strategic decisions.
- Organised, methodical, and adept at managing competing demands.
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders.
- Experience leading teams in a high-performance, data-driven culture.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with hydrogen or net zero infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
