Leading the Internal Audit function and a team of two, reporting into the Head of Risk, Audit and Assurance, as Internal Audit Manager you will be responsible for executing a best-in-class internal audit strategy, providing independent assurance, and promoting a strong risk and control culture across the organisation.

Key accountabilities:

 

  • Lead the execution of a dynamic, risk-based internal audit plan aligned with strategic objectives and risk profile, providing independent, objective assurance and advisory services.

 

  • Lead and coach a high-performing internal audit team (2 qualified staff), including managing co-sourced audit partners (Big 4).

 

  • Oversee the delivery of operational, financial, compliance, cyber and IT audits across all business functions.

 

  • Ensure audit activities are conducted in accordance with professional standards and deliver value-added insights.

 

  • Maintain proactive and effective communication to report on audit findings, emerging risks, and control improvements.

 

  • Drive continuous improvement in audit methodology, tools, and reporting practices.

 

  • Oversee and monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and assess the effectiveness of corrective actions.

 

  • Own the internal audit budget, resources, and strategic planning

 

About you:

 

  • Professional accounting / auditing qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, or a qualification pertaining to IIA Institute of Internal Auditors).

 

  • Extensive experience in internal audit, risk management, or assurance, with experience in leadership roles.

 

  • Strong understanding of internal audit standards, internal control frameworks, risk management practices, and corporate governance.

 

  • Experience working in regulated industries (preferably utilities, energy, or infrastructure) would be very highly regarded.

 

  • Proven ability to influence and engage with senior executive level stakeholders.

 

  • Experience in line managing, coaching and developing a team.

 

  • Ability to develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the business and regulatory environment.

 

  • A focus on continued improvement and achieving high standards.
