Internal Communications and Engagement Officer

Warwick based, hybrid working

12 month fixed term contract

£42,000 - £48,000 + bens DOE

The Internal Communications and Engagement Officer will define, lead, and execute internal communications for divisions within our Chief Operating Officer (COO) directorate – supporting critical business areas including Major Programmes, Engineering and Asset, and Safety, Health and Wellbeing. You will create and manage local channels and tactical delivery to provide high quality internal communications on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and senior leaders, shaping and driving the overall communication and engagement approach, whilst also ensuring that the organisational brand is adhered to and further enhanced in close cooperation with the core Internal Communications and Engagement team

Key accountabilities:

 

  • Provide internal communication counsel to the COO and senior leaders to ensure effective prioritisation and alignment of activities.
  • Produce material for use by the COO Executive and other senior stakeholders.
  • Develop robust strategies that bring-to-life the purpose, impact, and contribution of the relevant COO areas, ensuring colleagues receive timely and accurate communications.
  • Deliver the strategy through local engagement plans, including campaign delivery and multifaceted communication channels including digital newsletters, town halls, and video production.
  • Manage and develop safety related content for the whole company, promoting our ‘Safe Every Day’ ambition and managing major communications such as the bi-annual Safety Survey.
  • Devise and manage mechanisms to enable regular feedback, such as surveys and other means, to gauge sentiment and inform future actions.
  • Collaborate with our core internal communication specialists to ensure alignment and consistency of messaging and channels to prevent information overload.
  • Ensure communications adhere to the National Gas tone of voice and are appropriate for the channels being utilised
  • Stay abreast of key colleague communication and engagement trends and best practice, encouraging new and innovative thinking.

 

About you:

 

We’re looking for a well-experienced internal communications and engagement practitioner, a self-starter with a proven track record of working in complex organisations supporting and advising senior leaders.  If you have exposure within engineering, operations, infrastructure or the utilities sector or content, this would be highly regarded.

 

  • Evidence of delivering high quality communication and engagement plans and strategies, including effective implementation.
  • A skilled writer, storyteller and editor, with an ability to produce compelling and concise content for a range of communications channels and formats, including video production.
  • Knowledge of engagement, communications and campaign delivery, across multifaceted channels and audiences, focused not only on planning, but execution and measurement.
  • Knowledge and understanding of modern colleague communication and engagement channels, digital tools, and communications best practice.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to gain the trust and support of senior leaders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to transpose findings, data and complex information into simple messaging that is appropriate for all audiences.
  • Self-starter, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while also able to take a collaborative approach with teams across the business and other regions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to gain credibility quickly and inspire trust and confidence in delivery.

 

Desirable - Chartered member of CIPR or equivalent body.
