About us

At National Gas, the work we do matters.

As Britain's national gas network, we help keep the lights on, businesses running, and homes warm by maintaining the critical infrastructure that transports gas across Great Britain. While providing the energy security Britain relies on today, we're also helping transform the network for a clean energy future.

Join us and help secure Britain's energy.

About the role

As a Junior Investment & Reporting Analyst, you'll play a key role in supporting the planning, governance and reporting of major investment programmes that help shape the future of Britain's energy network. Working with a range of stakeholders, you'll turn complex data into meaningful insights that support business-critical investment decisions.

Why this role matters

Major investment programmes are essential to maintaining and developing the infrastructure that keeps energy flowing safely and reliably across Great Britain. This role exists to ensure those programmes are accurately planned, effectively monitored and supported by high-quality reporting and analysis.

Joining the Major Programmes team will give you exposure to large-scale infrastructure projects and strategic decision-making from day one. Whether you're starting your career or building on existing experience, you'll have the opportunity to develop specialist skills while making a genuine contribution to the future of the UK's energy network.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting the analysis, management, and reporting of investment portfolio data, ensuring information is accurate, complete, and reliable
  • Assisting with investment planning activities, including forecasting, RIIO profiling, cost phasing, and project development
  • Producing reports, dashboards, and presentations that provide insight into portfolio performance, risks, and opportunities
  • Supporting regulatory reporting requirements and helping prepare evidence for Price Control Deliverables (PCDs) and investment governance activities
  • Monitoring expenditure against budgets and allowances, identifying trends, and highlighting emerging risks or variances
  • Gathering and analysing information relating to capital programmes, resources, forecasts, outages, and project delivery
  • Collaborating with Investment Planners, Engineers, Finance, Regulatory, and Project Delivery teams to support informed business decisions
  • Supporting projects through the Gas Network Development Process (ND500), from concept through to initiation
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and helping drive efficiencies across the investment planning process

What you'll bring

This role would suit someone who enjoys working with data, solving problems and turning information into meaningful insights. You'll be naturally organised, analytical and comfortable managing multiple priorities, while building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

If you're curious, eager to learn and motivated by the opportunity to contribute to projects that shape Britain's energy infrastructure, you'll thrive in this role. Most importantly, you'll bring a positive attitude, a growth mindset and a genuine interest in developing a career in investment planning and portfolio management.
