Salary: £42,283 – £58,015

About the role
As a Land Officer, you’ll support and deliver our Land Rights Strategy across the network. You’ll work closely with operational teams, affected landowners, grantors and third parties to secure land access, manage compensation claims, and ensure our legal responsibilities are upheld.
You’ll bring expertise in land rights, acquisitions, agricultural practices, and regulatory obligations — helping us maintain strong relationships with our grantors and achieve operational success.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the delivery of our Land Rights Strategy across the methane network.
- Helping operational teams gain safe, timely access to required land parcels.
- Engaging with stakeholders including landowners, grantors, occupiers and third parties.
- Managing and assessing compensation claims arising from surveys or access.
- Drafting and issuing licence agreements to facilitate land access.
- Coordinating suppliers involved in land access and land rights activities.
- Acting as a key point of communication for internal and external stakeholders.
About you
You’re an excellent communicator, a confident negotiator, and someone who thrives in a role balancing people, process and technical detail. You’re comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams and can build trust with landowners, operational colleagues and suppliers alike.
You have strong organisational skills, good judgement, and a proactive approach to managing land access and compensation matters.
Key Requirements & Experience:
- MRICS/AssocRICS (desirable) or working towards accreditation
Knowledge or awareness of:
- Planning Act 2008
- Compulsory Purchase Act 1965
- Gas Act 1986
- Pipelines Act 1962
- Awareness of agricultural land practices
- Understanding of land rights and associated legal responsibilities
- Experience drafting and issuing land access licence agreements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
- Project or contract management experience (advantageous)
- Ability to deliver elements of a project within budget
- Full UK driving licence
