Join us and help secure Britain's energy.

About the role

Join National Gas as a Lead Asset Data Analyst and shape the way we plan and prioritise investment across the UK Gas Transmission network.

You'll lead the development of asset risk and investment models, providing the evidence that supports long-term asset strategies, business planning, and major investment decisions.

Why this role matters

The choices we make today will influence the performance and resilience of critical national infrastructure for years to come. In this role, you'll take ownership of a key modelling capability that helps direct investment to where it delivers the greatest value.

Working across Asset Management, Strategy, Investment, and Regulatory teams, you'll help ensure our decisions are based on robust analysis, strong data, and a clear understanding of future network needs, including the transition to new energy technologies.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of asset risk and investment models
  • Provide analysis and evidence that supports investment planning and strategic decision-making
  • Align modelling approaches with asset management objectives, regulatory requirements, and business priorities
  • Improve the quality and application of asset data used to assess risk and investment need
  • Embed future energy considerations, including hydrogen readiness, into modelling methodologies
  • Work with internal specialists and external stakeholders to support planning and regulatory activities
  • Provide insight that helps shape investment priorities across the network

What you’ll bring

You'll also have:

  • Degree, or equivalent qualification, in a mathematical, science, engineering, or economics-related discipline
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn complex data into meaningful insight
  • Experience influencing decisions through analysis and evidence
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of regulatory frameworks

Desirable

  • Degree, or equivalent qualification, in a mathematical, science, engineering, economics, or related discipline
  • Knowledge of Python, VBA, C#, or similar programming languages
  • Experience supporting business planning, regulatory submissions, or investment governance activities
  • Understanding of UK energy networks, Net Zero objectives, or hydrogen technologies
  • Professional asset management qualification such as IAM Certificate or equivalent

  • Annual performance bonus up to 6%
