About Us

At National Gas, the work we do matters.

As Britain's national gas network, we help keep the lights on, businesses running, and homes warm by maintaining the critical infrastructure that transports gas across Great Britain. While providing the energy security Britain relies on today, we're also helping transform the network for a clean energy future.

Join us and help secure Britain's energy.

About the role

Bring your design and build expertise to help create the UK's future hydrogen transmission network, shaping projects from concept through design and into delivery.

As Project Manager within our New Molecules programme, you'll help shape the Humber Hydrogen Pipeline and Project Union programmes, developing the infrastructure needed to decarbonise industry, strengthen energy security and support the UK's transition to net zero.

This is an opportunity for an experienced infrastructure project manager to influence projects from concept and FEED through consenting and into execution readiness, ensuring designs are safe, practical, commercially sound and ready for delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the safe delivery of major hydrogen infrastructure projects through FEED and development phases.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risk and governance.
  • Influence engineering solutions to ensure strong constructability and delivery outcomes.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, environmental, commercial and construction disciplines.
  • Manage consultants, suppliers and NEC-based contracts.
  • Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements.
  • Act as a key interface between contractors, technical specialists and senior stakeholders.

Why this role matters

National Gas is securing Britain's energy today while building the infrastructure needed for tomorrow. As part of our journey to a cleaner future, we're investing in major New Molecule projects that will help decarbonise the energy system.

Project Union St Fergus to Teesside is a flagship part of that journey, supporting plans to convert existing pipeline infrastructure into a dedicated hydrogen network that will connect hydrogen production, storage, and demand across the UK. With more than £164m already secured for Project Union projects.

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and lifecycle delivery.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts, cost management and project controls.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.

Desirable:
