As SCADA and Simulation Analyst, you’ll join a 24/7 support team responsible for the operation of our business‑critical SCADA system and a simulation platform that models gas network behaviour in real time.
You’ll maintain network visibility by monitoring system performance, validating telemetry, resolving SCADA issues, and supporting controllers during operational events. Your work is vital to ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of the gas network.

About the role
In this role, you will:
- Provide 24/7 technical support for SCADA, including real‑time fault diagnosis, telemetry debugging and recovery of failed comms.
- Investigate incidents using logs, protocol traces and system metrics, delivering clear root cause analysis and managing ServiceNow tickets.
- Monitor system health, servers, comms paths and data latency; resolve telemetry loss and connectivity issues.
- Support OS patching, security scanning and compliance activities aligned to NIS‑D and OFGEM requirements.
- Contribute to major projects, system refreshes and network rollouts, ensuring stable telemetry and effective change control.
- Maintain documentation, audit controls and processes to meet regulatory and security standards (e.g., ISO27001).
- Liaise with Control Room, operational teams and vendors during upgrades, outages and contingency events.
- Share knowledge and provide technical guidance within the team.
About you
As this is a highly specialised and technical role, some of the key requirements of the successful candidate are:
- Proven experience with SCADA telemetry systems or gas transmission operational technologies.
- Strong background supporting major outages, system migrations or SCADA upgrades.
- Solid understanding of Critical National Infrastructure operations, risks and IT/OT environments.
- Good knowledge of telemetry and comms protocols (DNP3, Modbus, OPC, IEC‑61131) and data validation.
- Practical experience with VBScript/JScript, PowerShell, SQL and protocol‑level troubleshooting.
- Strong awareness of cyber security risks and NIS Directive requirements.
- Experience working with real‑time modelling or simulation platforms.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
