Strategic Pricing Analyst – Warwick, hybrid - £46,000-£54,000 DOE

System Operations is responsible for operating and controlling the gas National Transmission System (NTS) - making gas available when and where our customers need it, and facilitating the efficient operation of the GB gas market.  At its core, the charges that customers pay for use of the NTS is an essential part of the gas market, and how these charges are paid is an element that can help support the goals for the future of energy in the UK.

 

Within the Gas Markets team, as a Strategic Pricing Analyst you will join a team of specialists working on the important area of gas transportation charges and their future development, providing analysis and commercial insight to internal and external stakeholders and customers.  You will lead and help support initiatives in shaping gas market and charging frameworks, to support the future of gas and the NTS for our customers and consumers.

 

Stakeholder Engagement is an important part of the role, cutting through complex topics and understanding regulatory detail and impacts of changes from regulatory or industry developments.  You can play a big part, working with Ofgem, DESNZ, an extensive range of internal and external stakeholders to help innovate and shape the gas market charging arrangements for years to come.

About the role:

 

As part of the Charging & Revenue team, you will help us make a difference being at the heart of the future of gas charging, working with customers and stakeholders:

 

  • As a focal point on pricing, we provide insight, advice and support on industry developments, both internally and externally, with customers and stakeholders. This also involves developing initiatives and researching opportunities for shaping future pricing initiatives (e.g. supporting Hydrogen, CCUS and many other critical projects).

 

  • Working with and manipulating large Excel data sets from a variety of sources, you will support and provide resilience on charging/ pricing processes.  These processes calculate, publish, and monitor charges that facilitate access and utilisation of our network and recover National Gas’ Allowed Revenue (c.£1bn – £1.5bn per annum).

 

  • Lead on changes to industry codes (mostly, but not limited to, the charging methodology and its application) on areas of charging to better meet our licence obligations and in response and support of industry, regulatory, governmental, and strategic developments.

 

About you:

 

  • Analytical background and demonstrated expertise interpreting complex data sets and overlaying commercial and regulatory intelligence, using advanced MS Excel skills.

 

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver analysis and commercial insight to support decision making and cutting through complex topics to inform internal and external stakeholders.

 

  • Commercial awareness and insight, creating clear summaries to inform decision making and demonstrating the key inputs behind them.

 

  • Experience in a regulated environment, especially if energy or utilities, would be very highly regarded, though not essential.  You will need to be able to understand the inner workings of a regulatory model, with funding and revenue, and demonstrate your approach

 

  • Stakeholder management and relationship building skills, and impeccable communication
