Threat Detection Engineer, Warwick/Hybrid - up to £60,000

With the separation from National Grid largely complete, this is a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious Threat Detection Engineer to join us at National Gas at the early stage of our Cyber Security journey - working in Critical National Infrastructure, utilizing cutting-edge tooling technology, as part of a growing, highly talented team, with the opportunity to truly influence our direction of travel.

About the role:
The Threat Detection Engineer will protect the National Gas systems, assets and people from Cyber Security threats, ensuring we can continuously keep up to date with new and emerging threats, detect them, and respond to them.
Working closely with the SOAR Engineers, you will help enable the Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC) detect threats through; detection engineering, enrichment, tuning and automation - maturing the cyber security posture of the business by leveraging automation and orchestrated response.
This is a hybrid role based between home and our Warwick HQ, and the closing date for applications is 26th March 2025.
About you:
- Excellent proficiency in Kusto (KQL) and detection engineering
- Experience working in Security Operation Centres, incident response and associated technologies
- Skilled with cloud security tools and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365)
- Documentation skills in order to provide high quality documentation for internal customers and technical teams
- Experience responding to common threats such as malware, and social engineering. Experience must include effective use of threat artefacts, IOCs, and behavioural factors
