About the role

As Uncertainty Mechanism (UM) Programme Manager for Control Systems, you'll lead the development of funding submissions for major control systems investment programmes, with a portfolio of projects across RIIO-T3 worth c £0.5bn. You'll help secure the investment needed to modernise critical infrastructure, support the future energy system, and ensure we continue to deliver for customers across Great Britain.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop and lead the overall RIIO-T3 submission strategy for control systems investments, ensuring strong outcomes for customers and the business
  • Shape and deliver high-quality funding submissions that secure funding for critical programmes
  • Create a clear link between investment need, engineering solutions, customer benefits, costs, risks, and delivery outcomes
  • Bring together expertise from across Engineering, Finance, Procurement, Operations, Safety, Regulation, and Construction to develop robust investment proposals
  • Build trusted relationships with Ofgem and other external stakeholders, ensuring submissions meet regulatory expectations
  • Provide clear updates, insights, and recommendations to senior leaders on opportunities, risks, and progress
  • Identify and manage portfolio risks, helping ensure investment plans remain credible, deliverable, and aligned to future network needs

What you'll bring

This role would suit someone who enjoys bringing people together to solve complex challenges, influencing senior stakeholders, and turning big-picture investment needs into compelling, evidence-based plans.

 

Essential

  • Experience managing large, complex programmes or projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong commercial awareness, including experience developing business case submissions or investment proposals
  • Strong understanding of economic assessment tools and methodologies, including whole life cost, cost benefit analysis 
  • Experience within the energy sector or a closely related infrastructure environment
  • Ability to communicate complex technical, commercial, or regulatory information in a clear and engaging way
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build confidence at all levels
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams to achieve shared outcomes

 

Desirable

  • Understanding of RIIO price controls or regulatory funding mechanisms
  • Experience working within a regulated industry
  • Experience working with executive leadership teams or board-level stakeholders
  • Understanding of the role of natural gas in the UK energy system
  • Knowledge of control systems, operational technology, or critical infrastructure programmes would be helpful, but is not essential
  • Full UK driving licence
